Bob Dobelstein (Robert Edward Dobelstein) was born on October 17, 1922 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Dobelstein attended the University of Tennessee. Dobelstein made his professional debut in the NFL in 1946 with the New York Giants. He played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the New York Giants the entire time. Dobelstein also played in the AAFC for 1 year, playing for the Los Angeles Dons the entire time.

Most people believe that 1948 was Bob Dobelstein's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown.
