Bob Boyd (Robert Richard Boyd) was born on October 1, 1919 in Potts Camp, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on September 8, 1951 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1953, his rookie year, he hit .297 with 3 home runs and 23 RBI. Boyd played for the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Braves and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Bob Boyd's best season was 1957, when he hit for a .318 average.
