Black Mamba: The Truth Revealed

I’m not trying to kill YAYsports! buzz about their new movie, but, Justin Poulin dropped a bomb on Killer Crossover that I had to expand upon in a post - Black Mamba was initially a female cartoon character in Marvel Comics. According to the Marvel site, Black Mamba is an, “Ex-call girl, now mercenary.”

Interesting fact, but the fun doesn’t stop there.

A great quote on the Black Mamba page states that she, “possesses the ability to project an inky cloud of extra dimensional energy known as the Darkforce. This energy is manifested by Black Mamba as a limited quantity of viscous semi-solid matter. It is not known how far Black Mamba can project this energy manifestation, but her control over it seems limited by her line of sight. It is also not known how much of it she can manipulate at once: so far she has not been observed using it against more than one person at a time. Black Mamba uses the Darkforce (a process she refers to as "shedding her skin") to surround, constrict, and suffocate her opponents.”

Hmm, could Kobe Bryant really have been thinking about his Marvel character when he picked his new nickname? You’ve got the ex-call girl aspect, a inky cloud and the ability to manipulate others - doesn’t this sum up Kobe perfectly?

It really was absurd enough when we thought the nickname was about the snake:

"The mamba can strike with 99 percent accuracy at maximum speed, in rapid succession. That's the kind of basketball precision I want to have. Not being able to train the last two summers, I was in a gunfight with a rusty butter knife. I did my share of killing, but I was just fighting to survive."

With the new information about the call-girl/superhero, though, it sheds new light on the mystery of Who Shot Mamba?... Was it Stan Lee, for infringing on his copyrights? Did he sic the X-Men on Mamba? I want answers!
