Bip Roberts (Leon Joseph Roberts) was born on October 27, 1963 in Berkeley, California. He made his Major League debut on April 7, 1986 for the San Diego Padres. In 1986, his rookie year, he hit .253 with 1 home run and 12 RBI. Roberts played for the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Bip Roberts' best season was 1990, when he stole 46 bases and hit for a .309 average. Roberts was also a part of the 1997 Cleveland Indians team that advanced to the World Series, before losing in 7 games to the Florida Marlins. In 1998, Roberts retired as a member of the Detroit Tigers, the team he was traded to from the Oakland Athletics.
