Billy Dewell (William Austin Dewell) was born on January 2, 1917 in Concordia, Kansas. After going to high school at Dodge City (KS), Dewell attended Southern Methodist University. Dewell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1940 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 7 year career.
Most people believe that 1946 was Billy Dewell's best year, as he had 643 receiving yards and caught 7 TD passes.
