Born on November 5, 1873 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Billy Campbell (William James Campbell) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 4 year career. Campbell broke into the bigs on April 17, 1905 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.60 ERA in 221.1 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Billy Campbell's best season was 1908, when he posted a 2.60 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 73 batters.
