Born on August 13, 1939 in Catskill, New York, Bill Stafford (William Charles Stafford) played for the New York Yankees and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 8 year career. Stafford broke into the bigs on August 17, 1960 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 2.25 ERA in 60 innings pitched in 1960, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Bill Stafford's best season was 1961, when he posted a 2.68 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 101 batters.
