Bill Mcelwain (William Thompson McElwain) was born on May 14, 1903 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Evanston Township (IL), Mcelwain attended Northwestern University. Mcelwain made his professional debut in the NFL in 1924 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 2 year career.
