Bill McKechnie (William Boyd McKechnie) was born on August 7, 1886 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 8, 1907 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1910, his rookie year, he hit .217 with 0 home runs and 12 RBI. McKechnie played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Boston Braves, Newark Peppers, New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Bill McKechnie's best season was 1914, when he stole 47 bases and hit for a .304 average.
