Bill Holbert (William Henry Holbert) was born on March 14, 1855 in Baltimore, Maryland. He made his Major League debut on September 5, 1876 for the Louisville Grays. In 1878, his rookie year, he hit .185 with 0 home runs and 12 RBI. Holbert played for the Louisville Grays, Milwaukee Cream Citys, Troy Trojans, Syracuse Stars, New York Metropolitans and Brooklyn Bridegrooms over the course of his 12 year career.
