Bill Chipley (William Allen Chipley) was born on July 2, 1920 in Lynchburg, Virginia. Chipley attended Clemson University and Washington and Lee University. Chipley made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the Boston Yanks. He played for the Boston Yanks and New York Bulldogs over the course of his 3 year career.
Most people believe that 1949 was Bill Chipley's best year, as he hauled in 57 receptions and had 631 receiving yards.
