Bashir Levingston (Bashir Levingston) was born on October 2, 1976 in Inglewood, California. After going to high school at Seaside (CA), Levingston attended Eastern Washington University, Monterey Peninsula College and Utah State University. As a senior, earned seven all-American Honours as a return specialist...named first-team All-Big Sky Conference as a KR...scored 12 touchdowns and totaled 1,597 all-purpose yards during his senior year at Eastern Washington...led Division I-AA and fifth on the all-time list in punt returns averaging 20.8 yards...broke or tied seven I-AA records including kickoff returns for a touchdown in a game (three) and season (three), kickoff return yards in a game (326), average kickoff returns in a game (65.2), yards in kickoffs and punt returns in game (349) and touchdowns on kickoffs and punt returns in a single game (three) and season (six)...moved to wide receiver and made three catches, all for touchdowns of 95, 60 and 27 yards vs. Cal-State Northridge…attended Monterey Peninsula Junior College and Utah State prior to transferring to Eastern Washington.

Played in 12 games with the New York Giants in his rookie season, returning 22 kickoffs for 532 yards for a 24.2 average, sixth best in the NFC…also recorded 9 special teams tackles…saw limited action at cornerback…best performance came against Buffalo (12/21/99), recording two solo tackles, two pass deflections and two special teams tackles and one interception late in the game to preserve a Giants victory.

Spent the first half of the 2000 season on the New York Giants’ (NFL) non-football injury list due to an injury suffered in NFL Europe…was activated on November 2 and played in 3 games with the Giants… waived by the Giants on November 20…began the year playing in NFL Europe for the Amsterdam Admirals after being allocated by the Giants… had three interceptions, returning one 45 yards for a touchdown for Amsterdam…named to the All-NFL Europe League Team for his effort on special teams.

Signed as a free-agent by the Edmonton Eskimos on May 18, 2001…attended training camp and was released on June 23.

Signed as a free agent by the Argonauts on June 2, 2002…Led the team in punt returns with 27 and punt return yardage with 398 yards…ranked 3rd in the league in average yards per punt return and eighth in total punt return yardage…named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the East Semi-Final and earned runner-up honours for the same award earlier in the season…started 8 games at cornerback in his first season in the CFL, including both of Toronto’s playoff games…in his Argo debut on August 1 vs Ottawa, returned 7 punts for 118 yards in a 24-8 Toronto win…stood out in a 30-25 Argos’ win over Ottawa on September 7 when he returned 4 punts for 100 yards, including his first CFL kick return TD, a 90-yard touchdown return in the first quarter…made his first start on the corner in the Argos’ 28-21 win over Hamilton on September 22, registering 3 DT…led the team in post-season punt return yardage with 172 yards and a touchdown and kickoff returns with 2 for 95 yards…in Toronto’s 24-14 win over Saskatchewan in the East Semi-Final, he dodged a punt 67 yards through traffic for the Argos’ first score on the day and a huge momentum shift in the game…returned an INT pass 34 yards in the win…had 5 returns for 71 yards and 4 tackles in Toronto’s East Final loss to Montreal.

Dressed as backup corner in the East Semi-Final…he had 2 punt returns for 34 yards, 2 kickoff returns for 52 yards and he returned 1 missed field goal 81 yards before being knocked out of bounds on a touchdown saving play by a B.C. Lion.

Named CFL’s Outstanding Special Teams Player…Named East Division Special Teams Player of the Year…Earned East Division All-Star and CFL All-Star…Joined the Argos in time for Week 2 after signing with the Miami Dolphins (NFL) on January 16…released by Miami on June 12…dressed primarily as kick returner and backup CB in 16 appearances with Toronto…Week 6, had one reception for 58 yards…Week 8, returned 2 punts for 49 yards and returned 4 kick-offs for 155 yards and one touchdown…Week 14, had 1 reception for 12 yards, returned 7 punts for 116 yards and 1 touchdown - coming on a 94 yard return…Week 16, had 4 punt returns for 14 yards…1 kick-off return for 91 yards and a touchdown and became the third player in CFL history (along with Tony Miles and Eric Blount) to record two kickoff return TDs in a season…Week 19, did not play due to an injury…

Re-signed with Toronto on February 27, 2004…Named an East Division All-Star in the special teams position for second straight season…Arrived at training camp looking to fill a spot as a receiver…Dressed primarily as a kick returner and backup SB, played in 12 games…Week 1 vs Saskatchewan, recorded first MFG return touchdown of career (105 yards), named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for sixth time in his career…Week 4, returned 3 punts for 78-yards including one 72-yard touchdown, named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week for the seventh time…Week 16, returned from injured list (hamstring) vs Calgary and returned 3 punts for 97 yards, including an 85 yard return for a touchdown that set a new Argonauts record for kick return touchdowns (surpassing Michael Clemons) in a career with 9, also added one kickoff return for 8 yards, was named the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Week…Week 19, began the contest with a 97 yard punt return touchdown on the opening kickoff then added a 115 yard missed field goal return, also in the first quarter, named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week ninth time in his career…

Dressed as a backup strongside CB and kick returner in both pre-season games versus Hamilton…Dressed as a backup strongside CB and kick returner in 17 of the club’s regular season games, missing one game due to suspension…Week 3, fell just short of the endzone on a 57-yard punt return…Week 9, almost single-handedly won the game for the Argos by running back both a missed field goal and a punt for touchdowns. His 109-yard punt return TD tied for second longest in Argonauts history. The two-TD performance earned him Special Teams Player of the Week honours for the tenth time in his career…Week 10, generated 162 all-purpose yards in Labour Day game at Hamilton…Week 12, did not dress due to one game suspension…Week 18, started game as primary kick returner and battled an ankle injury before eventually leaving the game, replaced by DB Byron Parker, in final regular season game at Ottawa.
