Awol Husker QB Runs Away

How do you make a name for yourself as a backup quarterback at Nebraska? I have a suggestion, why not run away? I know, usually this tactic is mostly done by teenagers unhappy with their home life, as they believe they’re sending a message to the parents. Apparently this method of madness is beginning to invade our higher institutions of learning as well, or perhaps this is only common at the University of Nebraska? On second thought, it just might be Bill Callahan? We all remember the act Barret Robbins displayed the night before the Super Bowl…What a positive influence Coach Callahan has on his players.
Harrison Beck skipped practice Saturday because he’s disgruntled with the amount of work he has received the first few days of preseason camp. "We contacted his parents," Callahan said. "He didn't arrive for afternoon meetings, so we are concerned. We are trying to contact him at the moment." Callahan said Beck was at meetings in the morning, but didn't return after lunch. Hey bro, my heart pumps piss for you man. Beck-Bothwell (Harrison’s mommy) told the Journal Star that her son was upset because Joe Ganz was receiving more practice repetitions behind starter Zac Taylor. So instead of talking to coach C about the issues that you had…Not taking advantage of that “open-door” policy all coaches have, you decide to go awol Barret Robbins style. Now that’s sending a positive message to your Cornhuskers family. I always thought the QB had to be a leader…When I mean leader I don’t mean by running away from problems. It’s a wonder why running back Cody Glenn told reporters last week that "He has to mature a little more. You saw that a lot this past summer, He would kind of goof off and jack around and not really take this stuff seriously.” Go figure on that.
Beck appeared in two games as a freshman last season, completing 1 of 10 passes…Awesome, my man! "Maybe if he would have stayed in the SEC, he would've been playing," Evelyn Beck-Bothwell said. "Maybe he made the wrong decision. He knows that playbook. It's just an issue of not getting respect from the older players." No, I don’t think the playbook is the problem here mom? Let’s see, if I understand this correctly, he’s the number three quarterback at Nebraska…You seem to believe he would’ve been better if he would have stayed in the SEC? No disrespect, but this is the first time I’ve heard of your knucklehead son. What hat did he wear on the sidelines in SEC? Mississippi State? There’s likely a very good reason why he transfered to Nebraska, since they aren’t presently known for producing even a mediocre QB’s. So how good is your son really, doesn’t play in the SEC, I guess third string at Nebraska?
I’m glad I asked myself that…Mommy has an answer for that too. She told the Journal Star that her son would beat out Taylor for the starting quarterback's job if the coaches devoted more time to him. She said Taylor is "just OK." “It'd be different if he was sitting behind Matt Leinart or Brady Quinn," Beck-Bothwell said. Where the hell does this crazy lady get off even mentioning Matt Leinart‘s or Brady Quinn’s name with her son? While you’re at you forgot to mention Vince Young, Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, etc. Please don’t insult those two names in trying to go to bat for your son! Face it, he’s a nobody, beside being a momasboy…If you want to compare him to somebody compare him to Barret Robbins. That would be a better comparison, Evelyn.
For her last brilliant comment mom said “It's just an issue of not getting respect from the older players.” Although it's pretty hard to respect a momasboy. Gee, I don’t know what the logical thinking behind that would be? Kids can be so mean when they don’t play nice…Or in your son’s case when he doesn’t play at all. It’s good to see the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree here. Harrison is just a chip off the old block, isn’t that right mom? I just would like to know, where’s dad? How come we haven’t heard his thoughts? I’m assuming you guys are divorced…There’s a shocker. So maybe we can blame Harrison behavior on being a product of a broken home? Nah, that’s the easy way out…Take so F****** responsibility in your life. Who knows, maybe his daddy is the outspoken Trev Alberts?
In case anybody does really care about this waste of sperm, Evelyn Beck-Bothwell told the Lincoln Journal Star on Saturday night that Beck sent her a text message that read: "I'm safe." Come to find out Mr. Harrison Beck was paying Bob Stoops a surprise visit up in Norman…Wonder what they were chatting about? Hey Bob, look out for mom…Sound like she can be a real you-know-what? Plus I don’t care how dire your quarterback situation is, I don’t really think you want a big-time mamas-boy on your team as he clearly appears to be.

Barrett Robbins had serious mental illness, so to compare his situation to this is absolutely ridiculous. Robbins didn't run away before the Super Bowl. He went out on a drinking binge, and several Raiders knew where he was. He came back to the hotel that Saturday night, and then Callahan made the decision to take him off the team.
Calling someone a "mama's boy" isn't so much an insult. What is ridiculous here is that the kid can't stand up for himself. Young men enter football programs not just to play ball, but to be men... to grow up a little bit. Obviously, this kid didn't get it. He's not the only one. It carries into the NFL for some.
Also, assuming that someone is divorced because she's outspoken is insensitive. I don't know this family, nor do I care to, but the generalization is uncalled for, and so are the ill words toward her. You don't know her and you have no idea how she raised her son.
