- Johnny Bench made his MLB debut for the Cincinnati Reds. The future Hall of Famer went 0-3 with 2 K's as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Reds, 3-2. He would go on to bat .163 in 86 AB's in '67 and then win the Rookie of the Year award in his first full season in 1968.
