Why the Eagles Suck

Don’t act shocked, the Iggles suck, they’re only going to get worse, and if Donovan McNabb has just a smidgen of brains, he’ll leave this season and find a new home. Too many organizations would love to have and appreciate a leader such as McNabb under center. However, he may be too loyal to a fault. So why do the Eagles suck?

Point #1: Let’s go all the way back to the 1999 NFL Draft when the “under/overrated” Donovan McNabb entered the NFL as the number two overall pick and the faithful Philly fans refused his arrival like Bill Clinton refused enlistment into the U.S. Military during Vietnam. The Eagles have never deserved a player of McNabb’s caliber, class, and unselfishness. Those qualities totally contradict eastern Pennsylvanians lifestyle.

From what I understand McNabb is pleading for more weapons.

Point #2: I sure hope he is considering Kevin Curtis was second on the team with 77 receptions and 1,110 yards receiving. He also chipped in 6 touchdowns. Not bad for a 6′0″ 186 lb. receiver from Utah State in his first season as a full-time starter. However, Curtis is a third option at best and that’s on a bad team. The bottom line is, he stinks as a full-time receiver and obviously the Eagles’ management has no clue what a “number one” on the NFL level looks like.

Point #3: As a matter of fact, the Eagles are clueless about various management decisions witnessed by releasing Trot right before the start of the regular season.

Point #4: What class this organization has firing a man in the final hour when it’s almost impossible to sign on with another team. What was their explanation for making such a poor decision? Coaches, management, and whomever else always preaches the importance of leadership and they fire their leader. The only explanation I would accept from Andy Reid would be; he has suffered from post traumatic stress due to the multiple run-ins his kids have had with the law, how they’ve strained his finances with attorney’s, rehabs, and chasing that white ghost, and how his team has underachieved for years. That was point #4 and #5. Regardless of making the playoffs, winning the NFC East, and playing in multiple NFC championship games in the early 2000’s, they have underachieved as a franchise. Oh well, I guess that’s how the Eagles roll.

Don’t worry I didn’t forget about Mr. Ostrich neck Reggie Brown who had a miserable season with 61 receptions and a defense that had no clue if they were coming or going. The only bright spot came from Pro Bowl starter Brian Westbrook who led the team in receptions (90), rushing yards (1,333) and touchdowns (12). McNabb you have nothing left to prove in Philly. Get Out!

Final Point: So why do the Eagles suck? You Philly fans didn’t get it did you?

Eh ehm...
  1. The Eagles don't suck...they finished 8-8 with the hardest record in the NFL nevermind the fact that the ball bounced the wrong way for them...with only the giants, cowboys and giants beating them by 8 pts or more
  1. "faithful Philly fans refused his arrival" - do you mean Angelo Cataldi and about 30 people (Ed Rendell included)...
  1. "if McNabb has just a smidgen of brains, he’ll leave this season and find a new home." - He doesn't have a choice...he's under contract for a little while. And moreover, he is coming back
  1. "Curtis is a third option at best and that’s on a bad team" - What?! He's a #2, I admit it...and moreover McNabb has diplomatically asked for weapons...i believe he'll see something...
  1. "As a matter of fact, the Eagles are clueless about various management decisions witnessed by releasing Trot right before the start of the regular season" - Did you watch them this season...If you knew a god damned thing about the eagles you'd realize that eagles management is actually far from clueless (certainly ruthless). Trotter was slow and taking up a roster spot. He certainly could have filled in, but considering the play of guys like Omar Gaither and Steward Bradley, I'd say they got it right...but you wouldn't know that

Why this half-article sucks:

Who the hell cares about the Eagles two days before the Divisional Round? You've got two rivals going at it in Big D, two teams that have had big games in the past playing in Green Bay, the Chargers playing Indy, and a team looking to go 17-0. Yet you want to talk about the Eagles?

The Eagles don't suck. 8-8 isn't sucking. 8-8 is mediocre, average, baseline, but it isn't sucking. They also went 8-8 in a division with 3 playoff teams. And oh yeah, they put up an amazing effort against the Patriots.

This is an incomplete article, a misguided attempt to drive traffic to a blog I WILL AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. It's prostituting. Mind as well start off the article with "Hey sailor, looking for a good article, well come on over here to this blog." I don't care how hot she is, I'm not sleeping with no hooker, even if it's a freebee. It's just wrong. And I'm not clicking on your goddamned link.

Can you do anything besides lists? Lists are fine once and awhile (like this comment, hehe), but writing is about supporting your argument without using numbers or bullet points. This is the Power Point School of Writing. Why bother with paragraphs, transition sentences, opening sentences, concluding sentences, and flow when you can just go "Point #3?"

And is it that hard to capitalize names when you classify your article into opinions?

The Eagles were one of four teams to have a top 10 offense and defense along with New England, Dallas and Indy, Cleveland is not

The Eagles have the third best record behind New England and Indianopolis since 2000, the Browns have made the playoffs once during that stretch I believe

The Eagles are the BEST road team in the NFL since 2000, and what have the Browns been best at. Oh right, wasting top picks on Courtney Brown and Tim Couch

The Eagles are the 6th best team in the NFL since Jeffrey Lurie took over in 1995 while back then Cleveland lost their team altogether

The Eagles have the best record in the NFL following bye weeks and losses since 1999

I understand why my Eagles get crap from other cities, I just can't tolerate it from a Cleveland Browns fan

And to argue your actual points, Kevin Curtis had 800+ yards two seasons ago as a number two in only a few starts when Isaac Bruce was injured, there is NOTHING you can use to prove he is not a solid number two, let alone a "number three on a bad team". And letting Trotter go opened up the door for Omar Gaither who had 100+ tackles this year while Trotter HAD 13 TACKLES. Pay attention before you make stupid points.

To tell you the truth the Eagles had a disapointing year. They do not suck. They beat Dallas, and the first game they played they were up and lost to an onside's kick. They lost to Green Bay on a last minute field goal. Donnovan was out a good portion of the season and when he came back he was not 100%. His pass defense was horrible, and he had no one to throw the ball to. But still they were contenders the whole season. They looked terrible, but still managed close games. Westbrook is a horse and one of the most respected players in the NFL. So winning the last 3 games at the end of the season doesn't just mean they will be back, but it shows that they could beat Dallas, they almost beat the Pats, and they beat the Saints in a game that the Saints needed to win and the Eagles had no skin in the game. They need a WR, and to tighten up their pass defense. 2008 is a new year.

In the News

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Boston Red Sox in the playoffs for the first time since 1986, snapping an 11 game losing streak. It took 12 innings to do it, as Mike Napoli led the Halos to a 5-4 victory. Erick Aybar hit the game winning shot to score Napoli, and Nap was held accountable for 3 of the Angels' runs and 3 of their RBI's. Josh Beckett wasn't the postseason man he usually is, as he only lasted 5 innings, surrendering 4 runs and 9 hits. Jacoby Ellsbury also made history, becoming the first player in postseason history to hit a three-run single. He did it in the 3rd inning, as he hit a pop-up while there was some miscommunication involving Torii Hunter and Howie Kendrick in shallow center field. The Red Sox currently lead the series 2-1.
