BigPPup
AGM Linebacker and I will bring the pain.

I'm a sports fanatic. I hail from Nelson County Virginia, and thats where I learned to be a Virginia Cavalier fan. I also learned to be a Dallas Cowboys fan because I hated how good the Redskins were doing. I've played sports at almost every level with the exception of being a fulltime professional, as a result I have a great perception on the sporting world. I love to talk sports and I've never been shy to share my opinion with someone.

The Wait is Over

The wait is finally over for Redskin great Art Monk as he and Redskins teammate Darrell Green were elected into the NFL Hall of Fame.  It took Art Monk eight years before he was able to make it into the Hall of Fame, while Green made it in almost as immediately after becoming eligible.

Many in the Washington D.C. area and in Redskins nation have felt there has been a block on former Redskins players with Monk being at the top of this list.  For years senior NFL writer Peter King said that Monk was not worthy of making it into the HOF despite having more than comparable numbers to both Lynn Swan and John Stallworth who made it into the Hall of Fame years ago.

Darrell Green was one of the fastest men in the NFL throughout his two decade career, coming in he ran a 4.19 second 40 yard dash and on his fortieth birthday he clocked a 4.3 at Redskins park.  As a corner back he was one of the most reliable in the game.

Today’s announcement will provide a small bit of distraction and some relief to a group of fans who have been forced to live in agony over the past few weeks as their owner searches for a new head coach and the rumors of Lane coming to town doesn’t make it any easier.

Darrell Green was an amazing player, and is a great man, American and humanitarian. His community work is well documented and his high level of play on the field for 20 Years is unprecedented. Both men deserve kudos for making it to the Hall.

Agreed both of these men are simply amazing with the way that they carried themselves both on the field and then in retirement.

Ima young-head so I never really got the chance to see Monk or Green play. But I hear a lot about them from my uncle, so congrats to him.

Yeah well thats the crazy part for me, by the time I started really watching football Monk only had like 1 or 2 years left to play. But Green came into the league when I was born and I remember watching him when I was in college, and I always thought that was amazing.

I had the privilege of seeing both men play. They were truly incredible. And are both deserving of a place in the NFL Hall of Fame.

About time!! I grew up in the '80's watching Monk and Green and could not believe how they were not in the Hall already. Well deserved.

Well, this was Green's first time on the ballot so that explains him. Monk ran a lot of hitches, not quite a route that stays in the memory.

I guess we finally have the answer to how many 8-yard hooks you have to run to get into the hall It's a shame that Ray Guy's not in yet, though.

I remember Monk's short time as a Jet. I also distinctly remember watching him continue his consecutive catch record with a cast on his arm because he'd broken or sprained it the week prior. The guy was a great player and more than deserving of the hall.
