My faith in Armchair has been restored. The true football fans have essentially told the pretenders (read: Patriots worshippers) that knowledge rules here, congratulations and thankyou to those who voted for Manning over Brady. Marino, Montana, Staubach, Elway. (It's really hard to vote against Manning, but its harder to vote against five Super Bowls)

Marino, Montana, Favre, Elway. Can't really argue with that, unless we're in the 2010s.

I am curious why people are choosing Manning over Elway. If I were building a team today, I would take Elway in his prime over any of the people on the list. Its not just about his arm strength, it is the ability to will his team to victory...His ability to make plays out of nowhere. When John Elway played, he was always the best player on the field.

Because Manning already has half the Superbowl victories of Elway with plenty of time left to play, and I think Manning is virtually always the best player when he walks on the field, too. He's not just a strong arm, he's a great leader, like Elway. I think it's a perfectly valid pick.

Elway played in 6 superbowls. With, in my opinion, an inferior team to the Colts. And all of a sudden Manning in a clutch QB because he won a super bowl. Until last year, he couldn't win the big one, whether in college or in the pros. I think Manning in a great QB, the best currently playing. In fact, I think he is better than Marino and if it were a Marino manning contest, I would take Manning, but I think Elway was the best of all time. And one other thing. How could Phil Simms have beaten Joe Namath. Thats just absurd!

I never called Manning clutch. And I'm not saying you're necessarily wrong about Elway. This is entirely subjective. I'm just saying that I don't think it's an irrational vote. Not like three people thinking Dave Krieg is better than Terry Bradshaw. I watched Krieg in Seattle and Kansas City. That vote was the biggest no-briner up there.

I agree. More TD passes, almost 6,000 more passing yards and a QB rating about 13 points higher. All things being equal with each one playing in and winning just one Superbowl, Simms appears to be the superior QB. That's how people voted for Simms over Namath.
