About the Author

There are some things about sports I don't like... the New Yuck Muts, the University of Michigan and those ASSCRACK UGLY HELMETS, the Floridamn Gayturds and the Miami Crimicanes. I also think that NASCRAP and professional wrestling are a HUGE waste of air time on television and would rather watch women's Jello wrestling!

Jerry Rice did it. Emmitt Smith did it and won. Could Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor be the first active NFL player to win on "Dancing With The Stars?" ABC annouced its list of dancers for the show and Taylor is the first current NFL player to participate. Jerry Rice was on season two, partnered with professional ballroom dancer Anna Trebunskaya, taking second place. Emmitt Smith was last year's winner, partnering with professional dancer Cheryl Burke. Smith was praised for "making dancing look manly" and for his "natural charm." Burke was given credit for coaching Smith while still allowing him to improvise some moves.

Taylor, Smith and Rice are not the first athletes to partake in "Dancing." This year's roster includes Kristi Yamaguchi, winner of the 1992 Gold Medal in Figure skating at Albertville and tennis star Monica Seles, who has 9 Grand Slam titles to her credit. They will join a line of athletes and sports figures that include Evander Holyfield, Kenny Mayne, wrestler Stacy Keibler and NBA star and Phi Slamma Jamma member Clyde Drexler.

Jason Taylor has the moves on the football field. Now he hopes to show America he's got the moves on the dance floor.

The Boston Red Sox took Game 1 of the ALCS in a pitcher's duel between Daisuke Matsuzaka and James Shields, who both made it past the 7th inning. Matsuzaka pitched a gem, surrendering no runs, 4 hits, and 9 strikeouts in 7 sharp innings. He also had a no-hitter heading into the 7th inning, only to be diminished by Carl Crawford as he singled to right field. The final score of the ballgame was 2-0.
