What's up. My name is Amir, and I am a HUGE sports fan, all around. I enjoy playing soccer, baseball, and basketball. I am not a huge fanatic about a specific team. For instance, I am a Real Madrid fan, but I like watching Barcelona's games. I like watching extremely good games, whether it be baseball, basketball, etc. I'm more of a fan of athletes, not teams.

Retraction... Saviola Could Be Staying...

This is somewhat of a retraction from an article I wrote a couple of weeks ago, which was originally posted on Goal.com:

Saviola To Step In For Robinho

Javier Saviola
Javier Saviola

The Argentinian striker has impressed Bernd Schuster in training and he has completely recovered from the injury that he suffered against Mallorca in the Copa del Rey in January. Robinho's place in the team has been called into question as he failed to recover the level that won him so many plaudits earlier in the campaign and that is reported to have seen the coach question whether he deserves a starting place. If Schuster believes that the Brazilian should begin on the bench then Saviola is first in line to step in. With Raúl and Arjen Robben also set to be named up front, the choice will not be made between the two South Americans until the day of the game. Schuster also other decisions to make as Madrid saw their appeal to overturn Guti's last yellow card overturned meaning that he will be suspended for the encounter. Mahamadou Diarrà is the likely candidate to step in and play behind the midfield pairing of Fernando Gago and Wesley Sneijder, but Julio Baptista could make a rare appearance in the week that it has been reported that the club have made it clear that they will welcome offers for him in the summer. Madrid need to defeat high-flying Racing to deny Barcelona one last chance to close in on them and reduce the gap enough to keep alive the title race. With five games left after this weekend and Los Merengues due to play the Blaugrana in the Bernabéu early next month, Schuster's team will know that they cannot afford any more slip-ups.

In the News

The Boston Red Sox took Game 1 of the ALCS in a pitcher's duel between Daisuke Matsuzaka and James Shields, who both made it past the 7th inning. Matsuzaka pitched a gem, surrendering no runs, 4 hits, and 9 strikeouts in 7 sharp innings. He also had a no-hitter heading into the 7th inning, only to be diminished by Carl Crawford as he singled to right field. The final score of the ballgame was 2-0.
