NFL Preview Show Extravaganza: Dallas Cowboys

It's day two of our month long celebration that is, the NFL Preview Show Extravaganza. Yesterday we profiled the New York Giants. Today, we cover the NFC East champions, the Dallas Cowboys.

The 2007 season saw the first full season in the career of one Tony Ramiro Romo. Sure enough, my namesake didn't falter. The Cowboys won their first five games and soon enough, Romo became an even bigger household name than before. The Cowboys would win 12 of their first 13 games. However, the Cowboys stumbled late in the season, losing two of their final three games.

With a 13-3 record in the regular season, Romo and the Boys were the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs. They faced the New York Giants in the divisional round. The Cowboys were the favorites to knock off the Giants and go on to face the Green Bay Packers in the NFC title game. It was a home game and the Cowboys swept the season series. Unfortunately for Romo, he would lose the game and the Giants would go on to win the Super Bowl.

Romo leads his pack into Cleveland to take on the Browns in week one of the regular season. The Cowboys have some notable games against the Packers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks.

Here's some burning questions (yearbook style):

  • Number of Jessica Simpson appearances at Cowboy games this year: 8 home games, 3 road games
  • Number of times we see Jessica Simpson on camera at Cowboy games this season: 8 home games
  • How many more Jessica Simpson questions in these burning questions: 1 more
  • Number of times this season Tony and Jessica allegedly break up: 3 times
  • Adam "Not Pacman" Jones will play: TBA- Roger Goodell
  • Number of times the name "Pacman" is referenced this season: At least a dozen times (Combination of all the networks)
  • In 2008, Terrell Owens will: still be annoying
  • In 2009, Wade Phillips will be: Enjoying his retirement.
  • Coolest name on the Cowboys (Top 3): L.P. Ladouceur, Evan Oglesby and Pat McQuistan
  • 80s song that best describes the Cowboys: Time for me to fly- REO Speedwagon
  • In 2008, the Cowboys will: Win the NFC East, going 12-4

What do you mean that Owens will still be annoying? Sure, there were a few incidents in 2006, although I think that had more to do with Parcells than Owens. But in 2007, Owens was great, despite the media poking him with a stick all the time. How has he been, and how will he continue to be annoying?

You've bought into the media hype machine, SSR. I think Terrell Owens wants to win more than anything and he knows Romo can get it done. Nothing phony about the moment at all. Do you really think he is such a good actor that he can cry on demand?

He's annoying because he defended his QB? Wow, that's a switch.

Strike two. This really isn't doing much for my argument.

So let me get this straight, Garcia is gay, I think he had troubles with McNabb who TOOK him to the Super Bowl, and now Romo is the one?

One interesting man.

I have never said that TO didn't cause problems in SF and Philly. I totally understand why fans of those teams hate him. But he hasn't done anything in two seasons in Dallas. Let it go, people!

fact of the matter is TO isn't stupid enough to blow his last chance...and its not a matter of him not getting another one because someone is concerned he's an asshole

the guys getting old...if he can't get it done with Romo, he'll be past his prime to perform at this level again...

He's well compensated and on a top tier team...not that Philly never provided that, but at this point, he'll never be a #1 anywhere else...

Sorry, but I can't be sold on the Cowboys in the playoffs.

They will probably have an 11-5 record or better but they have faded at the end of the season twice, which led to exits that could've been wins in Seattle and at home against the unstoppable Eli Manning Giants team.

Romo tries to do too much and that is the big problem I have with him, he can't take the dump off to Barber, instead he'll fling it 40 yards downfield for Crayton.

The Philadelphia Phillies took a 2-0 series lead, as Brett Myers and Shane Victorino led the Phils to an 8-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Myers went 5 innings surrendering 5 runs. However, he helped himself offensively, as he went 3-for-3 driving in 3 runs of his own. Manny Ramirez also hit his 27th postseason home run (a three-run shot).
