My name's Romi Ezzo and I'm a huge sports fan. My favorite thing in the world is baseball, and hopefully, I can become someone involved in sports, whether it's being a sports writer, an analyst, a commentator, or a player (my ultimate dream is to become a baseball player). I like to play baseball, basketball, football, and soccer (when I feel like it). My favorite baseball players are Derek Jeter (even though I'm a Red Sox fan), Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Ichiro, Vlad Guerrero, Jonathan Papelbon, David Ortiz, and Troy Tulowitzki (in that order). My favorite basketball players are Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, and Dwyane Wade. I don't really have a favorite player in the NFL, because I just started following it a couple of years ago. I'm a New England fan, which means that I love the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. For the people who have not been introduced to the "Home Runs of the Day" yet, let me just clarify a couple of things:
- The "situation part" (the part that states the score) is the score after the home run is it.
- And, on a second note, the first part of the score is the score of the home run hitter's team. The second number represents the opponent's team.
Notes:
Milwaukee Brewers' Bill Hall and Philadelphia Phillies' Pat Burrell became the fourth and fifth players to hit 6 homers as of April 17th, joining Derrek Lee (Chicago Cubs), Mike Jacobs (Florida Marlins), and Carlos Pena (Tampa Bay Rays) for the lead in home runs in the MLB. Mark Reynolds (Arizona Diamondbacks), Justin Upton (Arizona Diamondbacks), Raul Ibanez (Seattle Mariners), and Chris Young (Arizona Diamondbacks) are still stuck with 5 homers, but Manny Ramirez (Boston Red Sox), who hit two home runs on the 17th, and Joe Crede (Chicago White Sox) became 9th and 10th players to hit 5 home runs this season. *10 players now have 5+ home runs: 7 are from the National League, and 3 are from the American League.
Brett Myers (Philadelphia Phillies) surrendered his 6th homer on the 17th, tying Jeff Francis (Colorado Rockies) and Scott Baker (Minnesota Twins) for first place for the player with the most home runs surrendered. Oscar Villarreal (Arizona Diamondbacks) surrendered his 5th AND 6th home runs, making him the first relief pitcher to surrender 5 (and 6) jacks. He is also the first reliever to lead the MLB in home runs surrendered since Huston Street of the Oakland Athletics in the first game of the season in Japan against the Boston Red Sox. And if you thought that was bad, check this out: Ricky Nolasco (Florida Marlins) surrendered 4 homers, tying the players mentioned above for the lead in this "prestigious" category (""s = sarcasm).
Mike Mussina (New York Yankees) and Jeremy Guthrie (Baltimore Orioles) surrendered their 5th home runs on the 17th as well, tying Bronson Arroyo (Cincinnati Reds), Roy Oswalt (Houston Astros) Jason Bergmann (Washington Nationals), Todd Wellemeyer (St. Louis Cardinals) Andy Sonnanstine (Tampa Bay Rays), Jason Jennings (Texas Rangers), and C.C. Sabathia (Cleveland Indians) for second place (or third place, depending on how you look at it) in this category with 5. *14 pitchers have surrendered 5 or more homers: 6 are from the American League and 8 are from the National League.

Homer of the Day (April 16, 2008)
And the Homer of the Day of April 16, 2008, belongs to...
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Indians in a blowout 13-2. However, there's usually that one player that helps his team boost their confidence in order to score more runs and to never look back at their opponents. It was an all around perfect game for the Tigers, as they were able to get great pitching by rookie Armando Galarraga, as well as great offense and defense by the starting lineup. C.C. Sabathia, who has really been slumping since the beginning of the season, gave away that home run that put the Tigers on top 9-1, giving up a towering, 400 foot grand slam to Edgar Renteria; that grand slam was C.C.'s last pitch of the game, as it should be.
Could this cause a dramatic change for the Tigers? Could this cause a dramatic change for the Indians? I know it's early on in the season, but games like these matter as much as they do in September. We'll find out how well they do by the end of the regular season. Congrats to Renteria for winning his first "Homer of the Day".

I'd like some sort of a logo for the "Homer of the Day". Since I'm not great with pictures and stuff like that, I'm going to have to ask AGM for help. If it's all right with one of you guys, I'd like to have a logo. What would I like on the picture? Well, whatever you want, as long as it says "Homer of the Day" on there somewhere. Thanks a lot in advance.
Also, what do you guys think if I put the players in alphabetical order? What about inning by inning? Or do you guys like it just the way it is? I'd appreciate it if you guys could give me feedback on what I should do.
