Bob Glauber (Best name ever!) is a doofus. Okay, I take that back.

Bob Glauber (Fantastic!) is delusional. That sounds better.

Bob wrote in an article in Newsday on Saturday that the Giants are eyeing two top cornerbacks in the Free Agent crop. I know that this “supposedly” came from the Giants…but did he need to keep the fantasy alive?

Would the Giants sell the horse to buy the cart?
Would the Giants sell the horse to buy the cart?

Those players:

- DeAngelo Hall: Hall was told that Atlanta would seek a trade. He then told reporters that he would not return to the Falcons.

- Marcus Trufant: ‘Tru is the Seahawks’ Franchise player…

Okay, so Hall makes sense. He is young, talented and on his way out of town. But Trufant??? This is what he said:

“According to a league source familiar with the Giants' situation, Trufant is on their radar as a potential acquisition once the trading period begins next Friday. Seattle has designated Trufant as their "franchise" player, meaning Seattle has virtually exclusive negotiating rights with him for the 2008 season. But that does not preclude them from making a trade.”

HA! I am literally laughing out loud. Does Bob Glauber (love it) know what it would take? Can you say Brandon Jacobs, Osi Umenyiora and Plaxico Burress? That is the type of thing you would need to dangle in front of them.

What about signing him? Well that will cost you a lot of money (seeing as how the Hawks are already paying him over $9M this year) and two 1st-round draft picks.

Is that plausible? I don’t know, but it would be stupid.

So, Mr. Bob Glauber (brilliant) maybe you should let the Giants know that they are living in a fantasy world.

Well...considering they're already willing to give up 1 st rounder...why not give up two... At any rate, I think you overvalue trufant and you would be surprised to see what i takes to get him...that being said...a plexiglass/jacobs/Osi trade is laughable

I think Trufant is a solid CB. He is young and getting better each year.

I never said that they would ask for that trade, but if the Giants came to them asking for Trufant, they better be ready to give up a lot of pieces.

The absurd trade = the absurdity of the Giants thinking they can get him.

I'm not overvaluing him, he is getting paid more then $9M this year thanks to the franchise tag. Do the Giants want to pay more then that to try and pry him away, along with those 2 picks?

never said it wasn't. What my point is: The Hawks have the ability to match any offer. They are already paying 9 for him, they would be more then willing to let the Giants do the leg work of negotiations and then sign the sheet. Do you think the Giants would sign him for more then that per year?

Speaking of which...Eugene Wilson is available yet no one talks about him... I like him more than Samuel personally...(I know one's a safety)

Wilson came in as a corner, but moved to safety when the Pats got killed with secondary injuries a few years ago. He had some injury problems this year, and James Sanders passed him on the depth chart. He's a good, versitile, underrated player and he'll do well wherever he goes.

That's asking for it Bob Glauber. I want Ahmad Bradshaw, Burress, Umenyiora, Corey Webster, I want half the team and some draft picks if I'm the GM.

...Just so you know, Bob isn't insane. He's actually very good. There are a number of reasons that he's right, and you saying his wrong is just plain ridiculous.

There were actually rumors of Trufant being traded before the off season even began. As a franchise player, it's easy to trade him because Seattle won't take any cap hit for it.

The Giants were on the trail of both Trufant, and Nmandi Ashoumgha (Who is a MUCH better corner then Trufant.) earlier this month.

People need to remember that A) Trufant isn't as good people think he is, and B) Terrell Owens was traded for a 2nd round pick. Chances are, all it would take to pry Trufant away from the Seahawks is the 31st overall pick, or a package of a 2nd and a 4th. That's of course if they want to trade him. If they don't they'll just say that they don't want to trade him.

even if he isn't as good (and last I checked we aren't scouts...) he is a pivotal piece of the team. Eli isn't that good, but if he got traded would it cause a problem for the Giants?

And what trade rumors??? I follow the Seahawks and there were NO trade rumors before the off-season. And another NY Journalist was on the radio today saying that he hadn't heard anythign and that the trade was all a media creation...

oh yeah, and the $9 million is the Franchise tag for Cornerbacks. That's the average of the top-5 paid corners in the league. Since the Giants appear destined to part with Gibril Wilson (which is unfortunate) they now have the money to sign a big name corner to a big contract.
