As I sit here and watch the Indianapolis Colts play the San Diego Chargers, they took a break to say congrats to some young kids that participated in some competion. And a winner that was wearing a Patriot jersey was booed heavily. Come on people! Show some class! I understand that nobody likes the Patriots but come on she is a young girl who won some competition. You did not boo the girl wearing a Charger jersey. This just goes to show that maybe the Colts fans have no class. Maybe L.T. will call out Tony Dungy for having a classless fan base!

All in all I am just trying to say show some respect to a 12 year old who won some competion. She doesn’t play for the Patriots give hear a break, it isn’t going to kill you to give her a little cheer.

I agree with you JuT, until you start in with that tired "this is why people hate Pats fans" crap.

They're not booing the girl, they're booing the jersey. There are a billion worse things that can happen to someone wearing a rivals jersey at an NFL Stadium then getting showered with boos.

And if the worst thing to ever happen to someone is that they got booed by a bunch of strangers in Indianfreakinapolis, then they've probably had a solid life.

Romi, you can't get upset at JUT because of how he chooses to practice his fandom. He may feel he is an Iggles fan above all else and the rivalires and drama included in them may fuel his passion. Now, as that kind of fan, he would react passionatly to the sight of a Cowboys or Redskins jersey in any context. It's how he chooses to display his fandom.

If that how you choose? No. Does that make either of you wrong? Actually it makes you both absolutly right. You don't choose to boo other teams jeresys and that's your choice; but many people hold a passionate bond with their particular team. To ask them to remove that emotion beacuse the jersey is on a little girl or an old man would be to impose what you think is right upon their lives, and that's not right.

Just like we both have a right to practice our own religon, we have a right to practice our fandom, as long as it doesn't cause harm to yourself or others, or create a destable situation in which to bring your family, there is nothing wrong with the choice to boo.

If some 12 year old girl was wearing a Colts jersey on the field at half-time in Gillette stadium, she'd get booed.

Same goes for a Cowboys jersey in Washington.

Or a Packers jersey in Chicago.

Or a Raiders jersey in Denver.

Or a Ravens jersey in Pittsburgh.

Despite what self-hyped Philly fans might want you to believe, booing is not a big deal. And booing the jersey of your rival is nothing to besmirch as "classless."

Because they booed as a group. They have a common enemy: the Patriots. So they're not only unified by their love of the Colts, but also their hatred of New England. It builds a bond in a fanbase to have a rival. The Patriots are "the other," "the outsider" to their group.

It was classless and directed toward a child, LASportsblog. If your child was wearing a Los Angeles Ram jersey in San Diego and he/she were booed, you would stand up for them, correct? I personally wanted the Colts to meet the Pats but that's not going to happen now. Granted, not everyone is a Colts fan. At the same time, I will respect that person's right to wear whatever he/she wants to wear.

I'm intelligent enough to not dress any child of mine in a Rams jersey and take them to San Diego, or in a Dodgers jeresy and take them to San Fransico. If I were going to do such a thing, I'd arm my child with the information that it's just a sporting event and people act and react to stupid things. Moreover, if you, my Child get booed for wearing what your wearing it's only the jersey that they are booing, they don't know you and don't care to know you and it's not personal.
LASportsblogAAA-er
Score 0+-
Moreover, if you put your kid in that situation and don't inform them about it being not personal in anyway and just a sporting event then you're at fault. It's not the groups fault that you put your child in a position to be booed by people you perceive as idiots. The situation today is obviously a little differnt, but again, the group reacting to "Now representing the New England Patriots" is what incited the Boos, not the 12 year old - it was NOT about the child when they were booing. If your child isn't armed to handle the situation that may be presented that's the parents fault for not preparing their children.

An important fact you all seem to be missing..

These competitions, whether they be Punt, Pass and Kick, or essay contests, are all regional. The jerseys represent their geographic locations, where they live, etc. The girl quite possibly has no clue who Tom Brady is, or where the Patriots play. She probably lives in New Hampshire or Connecticut and has a Pats jersey on because she's the regional champ at whatever the contest was. It does not indicate she's a Pats fan, or even if she likes football.

And, as someone did point out, the fans are booing the jersey, not the kid.
