Chris Paul, You're My Only Hope

Well, Atlanta finally got bit by reality and the first round of the NBA playoffs are over. We are now left with the Hornets, the Magic, and six of the most uninteresting teams in the league that no one could possibly like unless they were born and raised in their home cities. The 2004 Lakers, I mean Celtics, are, unsurprisingly, an unfocused mess that can't even beat Atlanta on the road and are led by the human virus know as Kevin Garnett. The LeBrons are a collection of zero personality role players surrounding the most self-important egomaniac in history. The Pistons are the Pistons; the Jazz are the Jazz; The Lakers wish they were Jordan's Bulls; and the Spurs are so boring I fell asleep twice while writing this sentence. While Dwight Howard and Orlando are a fun and amicable bunch, a team with Hedo Turkoglu as their best player probably won't be making the Conference Finals.

The situation seams bleak, but don't turn off TNT just yet. You see, America still has the Hornets. True MVP, Chris Paul and company are still here to try and save basketball from the forces of lameness. New Orleans has quickly become the new Sacramento Kings, only better. They play beautifully watchable basketball and actually seem like they're enjoying themselves. Heck, I've even seen a couple of them smile. This is the alley-ooping, Dirk-slapping, three-popping team the NBA needs. The Hornets are the only thing the 08 playoffs have going for them, but if they keep playing like they have been, they may be the only thing the 08 playoffs need.

Ya, Emmitt, I'd like to see Chris Paul win the NBA too. He's the best player in the entire Southwestern... conference. Oh, and as long as KB24 and Big Pau the Punisher have anything to do with it, Chris Paul will be watching movies and playing golf come June. True Story.

i dunno how you could be a basketball fan and find all those team's "boring." I don't know how you don't enjoy watching kobe, Pau and Odom, or KG, the truth and Ray Allen. One could argue orlando is more boring then both those teams. Other then dwight howard dunking every once in a while they just stand at the three point line and shoot all day. You may not like some of those other teams, but other then Detroit i'm just fine watching any of those other teams. His teammates may suck, but watching Lebron drop 24 of 25 points (or there abouts) was more then enough entertainment for me.

I was never all that big a basketball fan till this year. I can't really say I'm a fan of any specific team, but I had a tendency to follow the Wizards a lot this year. This past weekend's worth of games were insane. If I had to pick the best one though I'd put my money on the Atlanta/Boston game. While I enjoyed seeing the intermission debacle in New Orleans, quality basketball supersedes accidental entertainment any day.

Big Kudos to New Orleans! Byron Scott has the well-made team with Paul, the new NBA king point guard, plus Tyson Chandler and David West, among others. The Lakers should be concerned. That is shaping up to be the REAL NBA Championship matchup.
