About the Author

Behbigben15
The name's Ben Heck. I am 16-years old, a Junior in High School, and am 5'7, 140 pounds of goodness! I am a Marylander, but I have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan my entire life (my dad is from the heart of Pittsburgh). Therefore, I can't stand the Baltimore Ravens (sorry guys!).

I love writing, and talking about sports here on AGM, and I plan to have a career in journalism sometime in the near future.

BBB15's NBA All-Star Ballot

Vote

The 2008 NBA All-Star game is less than a month away (February 17th), which means it's time to vote for who you want to send to New Orleans in February. Here is who I am voting for, and why.

Eastern Conference:

Center

 • Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)- Howard is by far, the best Center in the NBA, averaging 22.1 PPG, (13th in NBA), 15.0 RPG (1st in NBA), and 2.56 Blocks per game (4th in NBA). Howard can actually be considered one of the best all-around players in the NBA.

Forward

 • Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics)- KG and his Celtics have rolled to a 33-6 record. That astounding record is mainly because KG has averaged 19.3 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.44 BPG, and had 18 double-doubles so far this season.
 • LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)- LeBron leads the NBA in scoring (29.7 PPG), and is 8th in APG with 7.4, 8th in Steals per game with 1.97. He has added 7.6 RPG on to that.

Guard

 • Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks)- Redd is one of the NBA's best shooters, averaging 24.0 PPG, and shooting .374 from the 3-point line. Redd is also on pace to set career-highs in rebounding, and assists.
 • Jason Kidd (New Jersey Nets)- Kidd may only be averaging 11.3 PPG, but his 10.4 assists a game has helped his NJ Nets to a 93.4 PPG, though the Nets are three games under .500. Kidd is also averaging 8.7 RPG, which puts him on pace to set a career-high in rebounds.

Bench

C- Samuel Dalembert, Philadelphia 76ers

F- Chris Bosh, Toronto Raptors

F- Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics

G- Dwayne Wade, Miami Heat

G- Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks

Western Conference:

Center

 • Yao Ming (Houston Rockets)- The 7 foot 6 Ming averages 22.3 PPG, which is tenth in the entire NBA, along with 10.7 RPG (8th in NBA), and is 6th in blocks per game with 2.34. Mong is without a doubt, going to be the starting center out West.

Forward

 • Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets)- 'Melo is the 4th leading scorer (25.5 PPG), with 6.5 RPG. Carmelo is currently second in voting, and if he gets to New Orleans, it would be well-deserving.
 • Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz)- Boozer, the leading vote-getter, averages 24.6 PPG, and an amazing 11.6 RPG, topping Dirk, Duncan, and 'Melo. Therefore, Boozer gets my vote as the Western Conference Forward.

Guard

 • Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)- Kobe is working on his tenth All-Star appearance, and it is well-deserved. Kobe continues to impress, averaging 27.4 PPG, second only to LeBron. The key thing here is LA's 27-12, just 1 game behind the Phoenix Suns.
 • Allen Iverson (Denver Nuggets)- AI is the third leading scorer in the NBA, with 27.0 PPG, and has helped lead Denver to a 24-16 record, just 1/2 game behind the Portland Trail Blazers.

Bench

C- Marcus Camby, Denver Nuggets

F- Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks

F- Josh Howard, Dallas Mavericks

G- Tracy McGrady, Houston Rockets

G- Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets

NEWS: Yesterday, the NBA announced that Gerald Green (last year's winner) of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies, Jamario Moon of the Toronto Raptors, and the Orlando Magic's Center, Dwight Howard, will be the four participants in this year's Sprite Slam Dunk Competition. The competition will be held on February 16th in New Orleans.

Jason Richardson was the last player to win back-to-back titles (back in '02, and '03). Green will be looking to match that this year.

I used to like the King, but I kinda think he's cocky now. I don't like cocky.

That's why I like D-Wade.

I honestly think James is better than Wade, don't get me wrong. BUT Wade has a better personality than James does. That's all I'm saying.

This is a pretty good list, BBB15. However, I would probably take Marcus Camby over Yao Ming only because Camby has 14.3 rebounds/game (only Howard has more in the NBA), and 3.9 blocks/game. Sure, he has only 9.4 points/game as well compared to Yao's 22+, but I like a Big Man with good defensive numbers. Obviously, Camby's numbers are better than Yao's 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks/game.

Either way, Camby and Yao should be on this team... but I agree with you that Camby should get the start

I like Chris Paul's chances as well. 21.1 points/game for the Hornets, as well as his 10.4 assists and 2.7 steals/game. Let's not foget Nash's 12.1 assists/16.9 points numbers.

As far as power forwards go, the sleeper in this case would be Chris Bosh.

Amare Stoudemire (22.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks).

Nah. I don't thik so. 20.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals per game? Those are decent numbers, but I don't think they're enough for him to be an All-Star. And besides, there are 2 small forwards (EAST) who I think have better numbers than Paul Pierce: LeBron James and Caron Butler (21.8 points, 4.4 assists, 7 rebounds/game).

Best guard tandem in the league: Chauncey Billups 17.9 PPG, 7.1 APG, 3.00 RPG and Richard Hamilton 18.8 PPG, 4.4 APG, 3.30 RPG. Each could have better numbers individually but instead lead a well balanced starting five. The BEST starting five in the NBA.

I hate to say this, but I think Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobil should be recognized as well. You can't just skip someone on an all-star ballot without thinking about Duncan's 19 point/11 rebound/1.8 block numbers. As for Manu Ginobili, he's nowhere near as good as Kobe, and not as good as Tracy is, but he still racks up 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. I think he should be recognized, but he doesn't get my pick to go to the All-Star game.

nets are the best team in the NBA, As far as I m concerned, we have great fans, really the whole city of new-jersey will say that. In new-jersey if you want to watch the nets in style good luck with that, all the nets premium seats get sold out the day they show up in ticketsinventory. nets tickets are sometimes 2 or even 5 times the face value. Anyhow If you get lost I have a new website for u guys

http://www.t...ets-tickets/ nets tickets Anyhow I though this is something would interest you, a tip from a nets fan GO nets!!!

First off, the Nets 18-23, which clarifies that they are a mediocre team. They have Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter, and Jamaal Magloire. Big whoop. They have good players, but they're still in 3rd place in the ATLANTIC division. And you call them the best team in the NBA.

Secondly, the Nets are from frickin' Jersey. So how many fans do they actually have?

Third, I have never heard anyone spell basketball B-A-S-C-K-E-T-B-A-L-L.

In the News

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Boston Red Sox in the playoffs for the first time since 1986, snapping an 11 game losing streak. It took 12 innings to do it, as Mike Napoli led the Halos to a 5-4 victory. Erick Aybar hit the game winning shot to score Napoli, and Nap was held accountable for 3 of the Angels' runs and 3 of their RBI's. Josh Beckett wasn't the postseason man he usually is, as he only lasted 5 innings, surrendering 4 runs and 9 hits. Jacoby Ellsbury also made history, becoming the first player in postseason history to hit a three-run single. He did it in the 3rd inning, as he hit a pop-up while there was some miscommunication involving Torii Hunter and Howie Kendrick in shallow center field. The Red Sox currently lead the series 2-1.
