On Friday, Los Angeles Angels first baseman Darin Erstad underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle.
Angels foot specialist Dr. Phil Wong performed the surgery at the Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles and reported no major damage to the ankle.
Erstad was placed in a hard cast and will begin a rehabilitation process in about two weeks.
Erstad hit .221 with no homers and five RBI in 40 games in a season shortened by his injured ankle.
It has been rumored that the two-time All Star and three-time Gold Glove winner might not return to the team next season.
