I did not realize this, but Gary Matthews, Jr. is not on the ALDS roster for the Angels. Reggie Willits will play center and Chone Figgins will play left.

So it's OK for a hitter to have seven pounds of pine tar on his helmet, but a pitcher gets ejected for having a spot on his cap?
TylersaltAll-Star

Score 1+-
Pine tar for a hitter and pine tar for a pitcher are completely different. It's not the pine tar on his helmet that's the big deal, it's the pine tar on the bat. Much bigger deal if the pitcher has some.

Nice piece of hitting by Manny, and right off of Izturis's glove. That's what they're going to miss not having Figgins at third. The A's play good defense generally, but Matthews' absence is gonna hurt them bad.

The Red Sox actually stole quite a bit more this season than they have lately. You might say, but Salty, isn't the stolen base "against our team philosophy(TM)?" I say yes, but they were successful around 80% of the time, which is the magic number for stolen bases to contribute positively to expected run scoring.
