Yes, it's that time of year again: we are all counting down to the MLB trade deadline on July 31. With rumors flying and fans excited, and sites like this one playing a larger role in the sports media, trade possibilities are created and squashed in a matter of 24 hours. I propose a simple experiment to take advantage of this heightened media frenzy: create a rumor.
It sounds simple, but I'm not just talking about posting something in comments. I'm talking about us, as a community, doing our best to create a rumor that nobody has reported before, but is plausible enough that it just might be true. Then we spread it - like a virus - to enough other blogs and discussion websites that a major media organization picks up on it and reports it. If we can get a major media organization to write it up, even if they are writing it up as false, we've won.
Can we create this momentum, guys? Can we do it? I'm betting we can.
