An Introduction to...Allison Stokke

If you haven't heard of Allison Stokke yet, you will soon. The athletic 18 year old pole vaulter from Newport Beach, California, has recently became an internet celebrity. Her popularity has skyrocketed overnight, (think of an athletic form of Jenn Sterger). If you don't know who Jenn Sterger is then good luck. A month or so, ago this infamous picture was plastered across the Internet message boards and blogs. However, the California state champion has not appreciated the recent attention she has been getting.
When discussing her new-found celebrity status, Stokke said, "Even if none of it is illegal, it just all feels really demeaning." As someone who has posted a hottest female athletes list, you may not feel that I am the appropriate person to criticize those who drool over the 18 year old vaulter.
So where do you draw the fine line? Of course, you have freedom of speech. Bloggers can truly post whatever they feel like. We have Internet porn for a reason. However, the the poster, out of respect, needs to treat female athletes as genuine people and not objects of lust. There is a big difference between this kind of post and that kind of post . A top five list discussing the hottest athlete admires the fact that a female athlete can be a good-looking woman while being one of the best at her respective sports. However, the ladder demoralizes the athlete. It makes her an object of sexual desire. I for one do not approve of it, but the Internet police really do not have the right to censor it.
