Algie McBride (Algernon Griggs McBride) was born on May 23, 1869 in Washington, D.C.. He made his Major League debut on May 12, 1896 for the Chicago Colts. In 1898, his rookie year, he hit .302 with 2 home runs and 43 RBI. McBride played for the Chicago Colts, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Algie McBride's best season was 1898, when he hit for a .302 average.
