Born on June 24, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri, Al Gerheauser (Albert Gerheauser) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 5 year career. Gerheauser broke into the bigs on April 24, 1943 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.60 ERA in 215 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Al Gerheauser's best season was 1943, when he posted a 3.60 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 92 batters.
