Al Carmichael (Albert Reinhold Carmichael) was born on November 10, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts. After going to high school at Gardena (CA), Carmichael attended Santa Ana College and the University of Southern California. Carmichael made his professional debut in the NFL in 1953 with the Green Bay Packers. He played in the NFL for 6 years, playing for the Green Bay Packers the entire time. Carmichael also played in the AFL for 2 years, playing for the Denver Broncos the entire time.
Most people believe that 1960 was Al Carmichael's best year, as he had 616 receiving yards, caught 5 TD passes and had 581 kick return yards.
