Adrian Peterson has torn LCL

16
Vote

by Flea.Fanatics

According to head coach Brad Childress, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has a torn Lateral Collateral Ligament in his right knee. The injury is not considered season-threatening, although he is highly unlikely to play this weekend against the Raiders.

This is unfortunate news for owners of All Day and football enthusiasts who appreciate watching him run. As an owner of Peterson (and Ronnie Brown), this news is devastating. Even when Peterson returns to the lineup, he will likely have a decreased load to protect him for next year since the Vikings have little hope for this season.

It is really disappointing to see a guy like that suffer an injury, I was really hoping to see him get 2,000+ rushing yards, and get MVP instead of Brady, but it's not gonna happen. I kinda thought he would go down pretty soon, since he is injury prone, plus, he's still getting used to the NFL, but I will expect big things from him next year.

Favre should get MVP before Brady-- even Romo the _omo should get MVP before Brady- I hate Brady- with that OL allowing him to sit all day throwing the ball and his receivers catching any damn ball he throws-- he sucks-- guy never even has to leave the pocket- boo to you Mr Brady

I don't like him?? Come on show some hate- I freakin FACKIN hate Brady- GQ douchebag- hell I could look good behind the NE offensive line-- he should play for the Bears and see how awesome he looks-- he'd get shacked in the first play and hurt his pinky finger ending his carrier

Does that mean that Manning sucks, too, since he has been the least-sacked quarterback over the past five years?

No-- Peyton is good a scrambling and can make a play out of nothin- he moves around and finds open receivers fast-- Brady has all fackin day and just throws the ball to any receiver who somehow always manages to catch it- go to recap- Peyton good, Brett Good, Brady is just overrated (not sayin he's bad)- In otherwords- take Peyton, Favre, and Brady and make them play for the Bears- I think Brady would suck the most

He is only out a week, but I wonder how he will respond in two weeks when he comes back.

This is the story of Petersons career. He should have won bck to back Heismans at OU, but injury ended 2 out of 3 season there. Sadly it ooks like the same injury bug is following him to the NFL.

when someone hits you head on in your knee, it's kinda hard not to be injured. That's not really an injury bug.

I agree. Peterson doesn't have a chroonically weak body part that keep getting injured- he's broken bones in the past and yesterday's injury was unavoidable. This not like Chad Penninton's shoulder or Fred Taylors hamstrings.

And ladies and gents, this is why Peterson dropped to 7th overall.

Yet he is still a better back than half of the other backs in the NFL.

If he "tore" his LCL he's done-- if he sprained or stretched it he's okay--

From my understanding the LCL isn't as big of a deal as the ACL or MCL, meaning a week or two of rehab and he can come back.

The LCL is different than the ACL or MCL. Apparently it is a faster healing injury that does not require surgery. According to reports it was a second-degree tear with third-degree being the worst.

Grade II meant it tore but not all the way and was stretched-- you are right about the LCL not being as important as the ACL and MCL but it will diffinately affect the way he cuts to the outside.. ACL holds the middle on the knee- from the tib to the fib from shearing forward- PCL does the opposite- MCL is in the inside of the knee joint and is more commonly injured due to being hit from the outside of the knee- LCL is on the outside of the knee joint and is usually hurt from hitting the inside of the knee which is more rare- anyway- regardless a grade II (not really called a second degree) is nothing to laugh about-- if it was Grade III that would mean he tore it all the way and would be FACKED!!!

If you guys are getting your info from the media they are underplaying this injury just like Chicago is about Urlacher- you guys watch Friday Night Lights- the movie??- MCL or LCL just matters which way you cut to the inside or outside- it will diffinatley affect a guy like Peterson since that's what he does-- if he played any other position no big deal- HE'S FACKED!

I'm a Bears fan and I don't care- Grossman, Grease Machine, Orton- doesn't matter with a OL like they got- like I said stick Brady in there and lets see how good everyone claims he is

This is devastating to my fantasy team!!! However, I hope Peterson take enough time off to recover completely from this. He is a ridiculously gifted running back and I'd love to see what more he's capable of in the long-run.

296 yards two weeks ago and now Peterson is out for no telling how long. Just when it looked like Vikings were getting their act together they play the Packers and not only lose the game but lose their NFL record setting back.

Brett Favre and Peyton Manning are my two favorite quarterbacks to watch on TV and that is not because I live in Knoxville, Tennessee but because Manning showed me a lot on Sunday when he threw 6 interceptions and still the game wasn't decided till there was less than two minutes remaining.

are you guys honestly saying brady is a bad quarterback, lets be serious and enter reality for a moment. Last year he had about the worst widereceiving core in the nfl, and yet he was able to lead his team to the afc finals. He has several other SUPER BOWL RINGS on his trophy shelf. Now that he has a much improved widereceiving core he is able to stack up those statistics that peyton manning has had the chance to do with harrison, wayne, and clark. So anyone who says that Brady is terrible or even just average qb, does not know the first thing about football.
