[edit] Biography

Adam Piatt (Adam David Piatt) was born on February 8, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 24, 2000 for the Oakland Athletics. In 2000, his rookie year, he hit .299 with 5 home runs and 23 RBI. Piatt played for the Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Devil Rays over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Adam Piatt's best season was 2000, when he hit for a .299 average.

Piatt was also one of the players that was named in baseball's Mitchell Report. Piatt was different from the other players named in that he immediately admitted his steroid use and accepted full responsibility for his actions. He met twice with investigators for the Mitchell Report and provided a detailed account of his drug use. After the 2001 season, in order to recover from a viral infection, Piatt began using HGH. Piatt also said he met former Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski through teammate F.P. Santangelo, and that all his conversations with Radomski were via telephone. Piatt never met Radomski in person.

Although he obtained both HGH and either Deca-Durabolin or testosterone from Radomski, Piatt claims they sat unused for a long time, as he was concerned about the health risks they represented. Piatt retired in 2004 because he "lost his love for the game." He continued to pay Radomski in 2004, apparently to settle 2003 debts. The total amount of the checks that Radomski turned over to the authorities came to $11,550.
