How the LA Lakers won??? I don't know, but nonetheless, Allen Iverson added to his individual stats, scoring a season-high 51 points in Denver's 111-107 loss to Kobe, and his LA Lakers in Denver last night. His 51 points is the 3rd highest EVER scored by a Denver Nugget. Iverson played SG, while Anthony Carter moved up to PG, maybe he should play SG more often, as he went 18 for 27 from the floor, which gave him an amazing FG percentage of 66. Iverson went 15-18 from the FT line (83%), and added 2 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 steal, as he played all 48 minutes of the game.
The only player that took the eyes off Iverson, was Kobe Bryant, who was clutch at the end of the game. Bryant left the game in the 2nd QTR with a left shoulder injury, but returned later. Bryant had 7 points in the last 1:42 of the game, many of which added to LA's slim lead. In the end, Bryant's 25 points were enough to knock off Iverson's 51. Bryant was 10-19 from the floor (5-6 FT, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block). LA's PF Vladimir Radmanovic, scored 21 points off the bench, Vlad killed the three's (6-9), with 5 rebounds, it's kind of hard to overlook this 6 foot 10, 234-pound forward. All-around, Denver dominated this game, but Kobe came up clutch, keeping it close to the end, and that's when Kobe stepped in and got the job done when it mattered most.
Denver Center, Marcus Camby, dominated the inside, racking up 20 rebounds, but wasn't able to score a single point in 39 minutes. Iverson scored just 2 points in the 4th quarter, as he was outmatched by the great Kobe, who scored 12, leading his team to victory. That is the trouble with the Nuggets, Iverson is their best player, along with teammate Carmelo Anthony, but neither one of them is clutch like Bryant. But, 'Melo did manage to score 8 points in the final QTR, compared to AI's 2 points. Personally, I really don't think Denver should have lost this game, if they are going to compete in the Western Conference, then they need to win games like these, because some days Iverson has horrible games, and there is no way anyone on their roster can fill his shoes for a game or two. Denver, and LA are both 11-8 now, and Denver is 2 games behind the first-place Utah Jazz. Denver will have no trouble holding the second-place position, but will have to play good ball to beat out the 13-6 Utah Jazz.
