In what should be considered an ArmchairGM exclusive, sources inside the New York Rangers organization have confirmed that Henrik Lundqvist seems to have a very strange medical condition. As we all very well know, Lundqvist fell apart during last season playoffs posting a 0-3 record with a 4.4 goals against average in 3 playoff games against the New Jersey Devils.
What is odd is that Lundqvist played particularly well during the regular season, posting 30 wins, a 2.24 GAA and a .922 Save percentage. And also lead Sweden to its second ever gold medal in the 2006 Olympic games.
Report received from inside the New York Rangers Organization claim that Lundqvist seems to develop a medical condition during pressure situations, such as playoff hockey. As such, he becomes “light-headed” or “dizzy” resulting in an inability to focus his eyes on particular objects, like a hockey puck. As such, Lundqvist was very ineffective during the Rangers run towards the playoffs and during the first round. After the first playoff game, which the Rangers lost 6-1, Lundqvist sought medical treatment, however the trainer, Jim Ramsay, could not find anything wrong but suggested they hold him out of game two for further research. With the aid of an unnamed doctor, Lundqvist was declared fit for game three, however he was ineffective yet again and the Rangers went on to lose 0-3 and 2-4 to close out the series.
In the off-season, numerous trainers and doctors have seen Lundqvist in hopes of remedying the situation, however doctors claim that there is nothing wrong with him or cannot locate the cause of his ailment. One doctor even suggested that he may have some type of anxiety induced issue which results in his “blurred vision” during high pressure or stressing situations.
Reports also seem to indicate that the Rangers seem unfazed by this issue and Lundqvist will continue as the current starter for the team.
Please note that this is a real report with valid sources within the Rangers organization.
