98 on debut for Langer

Berhard Langer took to the field with his son, Stefan Langer, for the first time, at a European PGA Tour event in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. The area is more famed for it's motor sport than golf, but the location is nonetheless a popular one on tour, it seems.
Stefan was out first, and, frankly, had a 'mare! He resembled a hacker on his way around the course. Despite having a handicap of just 1, still considered an amateur, he spent 98 shots going around the par-72 course for a huge +26 at the end of the opening round. His father watched on at the end of his round, as his father, who earlier carded a 67 on the eve of his 50th birthday, watched on on the 18th. Stefan held a long putt on the last to scrape in in under 100, something that looked unlikely at one stage.
The Langer's said that it was due to Stefan remodelling his swing, but still, it was a pretty tragic start to the career of what could be a successful golfer in future.
You have to respect any player that follows in the footsteps of their father - it takes great ambition when your father is good, because you will always be compared to him. The Bonds' for instance. So well done to Stefan for having the courage to go for it in golf. He took the act of limited cowardace.
But it went wrong for him, sadly. But I wish him the best of luck for the future.
