Wow.
Wow, wow, wow.
That's the only way I can describe the first four games of the 2007 New York Mets. 4-0. 31 runs in 36 innings -- while giving up only 3. It's hard to say which of Tom Glavine, El Duque, John Maine, and O.P. were the best. And we were all expecting the worst.
I realize, it's only four games. Mets batters are hitting a ridiculous .311/.375/.453. Opposing batters are being held to an Ordonezian .198/.260/.289. It seems that the Mets have nowhere to go but down, right? Well, check this out:
- Carlos Delgado has three hits and four total bases. Jose Valentin is worse, with 2 hits and 3 TB.
- As a team, the Mets have a mere 3 homers.
- Jose Reyes has only one stolen base -- and one caught stealing.
Okay, you're right -- the Mets have basically no room for improvement. Man, this is awesome!
