Flashback..2004.
The Minnesota Timberwolves had just come off a trip to the Western Conference Finals where they lost in 6 to the Los Angeles Lakers. KG was the reigning MVP, and everyone was returning, Latrell Sprewell, Sam Cassell, Fred Hoiberg, Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowokandi, and Eddie Griffin. Troy Hudson was going to get playing time, and this was supposed to be ther year they went all the way. Well, things diddn't work out quite as planned.
- Latrell Sprewell held out for a ridiculously big contract (about 13-14 million) so he could "Feed his Family"
- Sam Cassell was not as good as the year before
- Eddie Griffin exposed himself as the bust he truly is
- Troy Hudson was distracted by a musical career
And the Wolves finish 9th in the West. Now, 2 years later, with a new coach, and a new supporting cast for KG, the Wolves look to return to the playoffs with the likes of Mike James, Mark Blount, Ricky Davis, and Randy Foye. It's so amazing to see what has happened to the screw ups from that year:
- Sprewell has unoffically retired
- Cassell has gone on to the Clippers and has done well
- Griffin is a screw up away from bust status
- T-Hud still has yet to start.
