JaMarcus Russell may end up becoming a great NFL quarterback, but his prospects of doing so this year are slim. Oakland is coming off a season in which their passing offense failed miserably on all fronts. If Russell is made the starter and ends up suffering through the same breakdowns in protection, the bad play-calling, and the lackadaisical route-running that were commonplace for the Raiders last year, his confidence will be shot and his development as a player will suffer. On the other hand, he's just athletic enough that he might be able to step right in and impress. There's no telling how the season will play out for these Raiders and it's likely that Russell will get his shot at some point. He's a huge fantasy gamble but, with his exceptional skills, he's a gamble that just might pay off for some adventurous owners.
