Why should you draft Eli Manning: Over the last two seasons, Eli Manning has played in every game, and he has averaged 3503 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, via the air. Last season, Manning had seven games where he threw for multiple scores. He was also able to put up some respectable statistics in 2006, despite Amani Toomer and Sinorice Moss being hurt the majority of the season. If his wideouts can stay healthy for him, Manning should put up even healthier numbers in 2007.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Eli Manning: Manning has thrown 44 interceptions in just 41 career games. He also tends to get off to hot starts to begin each year, but then Manning cools down as the season comes to a close. The first half of the season in 2006, Manning had 15 touchdowns versus nine interceptions and averaged 231 passing yards, and the last half of the season, he had an unspectacular nine touchdowns versus nine interceptions and averaged a mere 174 passing yards.
Bottom Line: Manning is a solid fantasy player to have on your team to begin the year, but historically he is someone you should look trade away as mid-season approaches. Consequently, Manning should be viewed as a second tier No.1 Quarterback in fantasy, and he will likely be taken in the middle rounds in most drafts.
