The 1972-73 NBA Season was the 27th season of the National Basketball Association. The season ended with the New York Knicks winning the NBA Championship, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 4 games to 1 in the NBA Finals.

- The Cincinnati Royals relocate and become the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, spliting home games between Kansas City, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska.
- The NBA All-Star Game was played at Chicago Stadium in Chicago, Illinois, with the East beating the West 104-84. Dave Cowens of the Boston Celtics wins the game's MVP award.
