This was Round Three of the 1950 World Championship, although no Europeans attended the event. As a result the race was a solely US affair, and although none of the Europeans ventured over, none of the US made the opposite journey to compete in Europe.
The inclusion of this race on the schedule was an attempt to link the US and European racing, but both refused to extend themselves to the opposite culture of racing. Also, it made the Drivers' Championship truly global, and it could make the boast that it included one of the major races in the world.
The race abandoned after 138 laps due to rain. The result stood, and counted as full points for the Formula One World Championship.
