In the 1931 World Series, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Athletics in seven games.
Pepper Martin led the Redbirds with hits and stolen bases galore, and also made a running catch to stifle a 9th-inning rally by the A's in the final game.
This was the final World Series for Athletics' manager Connie Mack.
