16-0.
Hasn't been done since the 1972 Dolphins, whose surviving members still pop champagne every year celebrating their accomplishment.
They better have extra cups this year, because this year's Bears team is going to join them.
Here's the stat that should jump out at ya: 156-36. The Bears are outscoring their opponents by a factor of 5!!! Looking ahead on the schedule, one can identify 4 key games that may pose a danger to the Bears chances of matching the record. They're all away games, the Bears have been magnificent at home this year and I don't see them losing there in front of their fans.
The 4 games are: Nov 12 @ NY Giants - The Giants are a hit or miss team this year, dangerous when they're on, terrible when they're not. The game depends on whether they go Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde when da Bears show up.
Nov 19 @ NY Jets - Deja Vu all over again? That's what da Bears might be thinking since they're back in the same stadium they were in a week ago. The J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets! and Chad Pennington started out fairly strong but have started to live down to expectations. If Pennington is still healthy at this point in the season, they've got a chance to maybe squeak one out. This is the infamous "trap game" in the season, in my opinion.
Nov 26 @ NE Patriots - Although the Pats seem to have no legitimate WRs aside from Troy Brown, Tom Brady still makes it work somehow. Laurence Maroney seems to have found his niche behind Corey Dillon and could be starting in front of him by this point in the season. If there's a QB that can solve da Bears defense, it's Brady.
Dec 11 @ STL Rams - A popular sleeper team coming into the season, the Rams have made the prognosticators proud so far. Marc Bulger has done well, and is still healthy. Stephen Jackson and his bulldozer running style versus da Bears defense will be the key matchup. Da Bears seemed to have some trouble on the turf in Minnesota, will they here as well?
da Bears! 16-0. They can do it.
