14 Men Ejected From MLB Game

11
Vote

Sportsdot is running a story about a historical baseball game well known in Boston and a small area of Chicago (south of the Museum Of Science and Industry), but largely forgotten in the rest of the nation.

From the Sportsdot article:

From the dugout, the White Sox team began heckling Jones, as players are wont to do when they think a superstar is getting preferential treatment. What happened after that depends on which city you're in when you hear the story, including a widely reported story of a ventriloquist in the stands. Although the why and how are disputed, all sides agree that by the end 14 players were ejected from the game.

Wouldn't it be great if we could read these articles in full without having to go somewhere else to read them...

I think that's the nature of blogging -- people want traffic to their own sites. What motivation would I, as an occasional creator of original content, and hosting my own site, have to put my entire story here without referencing my own article? More than that, if your source was any other original article, from say ESPN, or even a local newspaper -- you couldn't and shouldn't cut and paste the whole article into Armchair. Aside from copyright issues (and I can tell you at Sportsdot we've been threatened for cutting and pasting just one paragraph) in my opinion, it's also morally wrong. Why should bloggers be treated with less respect for their content? Wouldn't it be wrong for Sportsdot to take articles from Armchair and post them in their entirety? And in fact, I think if you look at Sportsdot's coverage of article on Armchair, you'll find that they are VERY fair, and meant to drive traffic back to Armchair.

Let me know -- if you guys don't want other bloggers having redirects back to their own sites, tell me you don't want me to post any more, and I won't. I don't want to be a pain in the ass -- just another guy trying to make a sports site work.

No you get me wrong... I have no problem with it. I understand all the copyright stuff. I'm just saying it stinks. Also, my 1980s computer struggles to cope with Word 95, so it takes me more 10 minutes to load the page, read the article, and get back here again. It puts you off trying to read it. Please continue to post here, it's just hard for me to keep going to other sites to read things.

We're cool. Regarding your slow load times -- you'll be happy to know then that Sportsdot has a Lite Version, intended for mobile users. No ads, No images (unless someone includes one in the story), and VERY simple HTML. It loads like lightning. I was in Germany for the group play round, and browsed Sportsdot Lite from my Treo. I'll put instructions for Sportsdot lite on your talk page

Total bonus points for using the word 'wont'. Oh, and for future reference, if you use team names for categories on this site, use full team names - i.e., Boston Red Sox, not just Red Sox.
