04 Colts Receivers vs. 07 Patriots Receivers

With the 13-0 New England Patriots taking on the 3-10 New York Jets this week, who can help but wonder, can Tom Brady set a new record? Tom Brady is looking to break Peyton Manning’s record of 49 touchdown passes in a season and currently sits at 45. I know that a lot of people have been talking about it bout I wanted to talk about a different aspect of it. Who is or was catching the passes.

I am curious to know which group of receivers is thought to be a better bunch. So here are all the guys who caught touchdown passes from Manning in 2004 and all the guys who through 13 games this year have caught touchdown passes from Tom Brady.

2004 Indianapolis Colts

Marvin Harrison 15, Reggie Wayne 12, Brandon Stokley 10, Marcus Pollard 6, Dallas Clark 5, and James Mangro 3.

2007 New England Patriots through 14 weeks, 13 games

Randy Moss 19, Wes Welker 8, Ben Watson 6, Jabar Gaffney 4, Donte Stallworth 3, Kyle Brady 2, Mike Vrabel 2, Kevin Faulk 1.

I know I do not provide complete information and I will do a break down at the end of the year of the two passers and their record breaking season. But leave a comment and let me know who you think has the better group of guys to throw touchdowns to.

I'll take the Pats if simply because Randy Moss is the most gifted athlete in NFL history. No question about it. If it weren't for his horrible work ethic, they would have already reserve his spot in Canton

I agree that Moss is a great athlete, but he isn't even close to being the most gifted athlete in NFL history.

Randy Moss is a freak of nature. Prophet you are exactly right about his work ethic but imagine what he could be if he gave a shit.

Give me the Colts. Moss and Harrison are all-time greats (I agree, Moss is better), but after that, the Pats' recievers aren't all that good. Is Wes Welker a hall of famer? Jabar Gaffney? Ben Watson? Reggie Wayne may also be one of the top five WRs in the league, and could have been an all-time great in a different situation.
