"Waiver Wire Watch" ~ Week 1

Here is my list of players that are most likely in your free agent pool that needs to be on your waiver-wire requests to increase your depth or even impact your starting line-up.

QB Jake Delhomme ~ Is he back? Although the STL defense is considered mediocre, it is apparent that Jake has more weapons at his disposal, a better, more cohesive o-line, and more confidence than he has had since CAR made their super bowl run.

QB Josh McCown ~ Apparently, he is the QB and unless he tanks significantly, Culpepper WILL play second fiddle. He has a good game, but it was against a mediocre defense. If you have a poor back-up QB, McCown just very well may be your man.

QB Matt Schaub ~ If he went un-drafted, here is your chance to add him. Who knows if this is a small impact or a long-term advancement for the Texans. Regardless, it is now that you take the chance to add him as your back-up QB.

RB Derrick Ward ~ With the injury to Brandon Jacobs and the great game put out by the 4th year RB, it is all but apparent to everyone except maybe Rueben Droughns that he will start in Jacobs absence.

RB Chris Brown ~ I never thought I would be saying this… even though he is splitting touches, Brown is the likelier of the two to have a breakout year. He has been hyped for three years and this maybe the year that it comes to fruition.

WR Antwaan Randle El ~ With an over-rated WR in Santana Moss, Chris Cooley getting the respect he deserves at TE and a solid tandem of RB in Bell & Portis, expect Antwaan to see more touches as the season progresses and he becomes more acclimated with the "Deadskins" offense.

WR Drew Carter ~ Is he going to finally live up to expectations? Whether or not he does, the key factor is the double team of Steve Smith and the increased ability to get open AND actually hold onto the ball. Expect to see more of Carter in the red zone as their TE position is utilized more as a blocker than a passer.

WR Ron Curry ~ He had a big day and appears to be the no. 1 for McCown, even if he is listed as no. 2 on the depth charts. If he can be healthy, he can be your "Marques Colston" of 2007/2008.

WR Wes Welker ~ As was thought to be the case, Welker is the new "Troy Brown", hauling in 6 passes and a TD. Expect him to see more touches than any other WR on the field wearing a Patriots uniform.

WR Brandon Marshall ~ 52 yds and a TD tells me his future is bright in Denver. If he was not drafted, here is your chance to grab a stud, especially if you are in a keeper league.

TE Eric Johnson ~ It appears that the Saints see in Johnson what SF didn’t… the kid CAN catch!!! If you have a weak TE or need someone as a bye week "filler", this kid can service that position for you…do not drop a RB or WR to get him, but if you are not impressed with your back-up TE, then go get’em.

K Lawrence Tynes ~ The kid has a leg and the offense knows how to use him. Here is a team that did have a big game but will struggle from here on in, moving within FG range more than it won’t, giving Tynes a great opportunity to be a fantasy stud.

Sure, there are many more potential candidates, but the likelihood that they are available are slim to none. Hop on these players as soon as you can and "pray for rain".

Welker had a good game, but I dunno if he will get the most touches out of all of NE's wide receivers

Watch out though, because Bryant Johnson started hot last year and dissapeared. They could be just "flashes in the pan"
