"The Gospel" Week 5 Wide Receivers

by FanProphet

This week the NFL could very easily be a low scoring affair in terms of fantasy production. Key Running Backs have horrendous matchups and injuries/bye weeks plague the wide-receiver position. However, for the most part, WR’s and QB’s should continue to dominate the stat sheets this week.

Using the Bruno Boys weekly predictions once again I am here again to give you the “skinny” on which Wide Receivers are likely to live up to their expectations, some which are overvalued, and others that should not see the time of day on any owners starting lineup during week five.

Remember, this is not a start em’/sit em’ list, but more of a guide if deciding to play in weekly cash competitions or when making a tough decision on which players are the better options.

Top Level!

Randy Moss: LOL! That’s what Randy is doing right now as he prepares for the Browns. If this were a late season game Moss would find himself at the bottom of this list. However, its not and he will remain consistent with his 22+ points per week.

Terrell Owens: Monday Night Football with the spotlight and national coverage is enough for the all-pro Owens. The Bruno Boys predict 22 points this week and that’s good enough to be this weeks top receiver with Moss.

Larry Fitzgerald: Like I said “it’s only a matter of time before Warner starts and finishes games”. It hasn’t happened yet but the Cardinals won’t need it this week. Take these 22 points to the bank in St. Louis.

Reggie Wayne: Without Harrison Wayne plays the #1 role. If Manning wasn’t Peyton I’d be concerned with double coverages making a long day for Wayne. However, he is Peyton, the Colts have other options, and Wayne is one of the best in the league. Look for 2 scores and fantasy production over 20 points this week.

Roy Williams: Calvin Johnson’s presence alone is enough for Roy to find a few more single coverages. Williams has a good game in the low twenties.

Plaxico Burress: They should just let Burress set up his own tent in the endzone because he’s been doing a lot of camping out this season. Like the Bruno Boys predicted, expect a game in the neighborhood of 16 this week.

Don’t Count on it!

Steve Smith: You have to feel for Smith. He started out killing the competition and Delhomme goes down. Unfortunately things won’t be any better this week with Carr at Quarterback. Look for a game in the high single-digits to low double-digits.

Deion Branch: I don’t see 15 for Branch this week in Pittsburgh. As a matter of fact, I don’t see much for the entire Seahawks team after the Steelers suffered an embarrasing loss last week. Branch sees no more than 10 points this week.

Donald Driver: I’m saying don’t count on 20 points this week. Favre is playing about as good as it gets, but this is a division rivalry that dates back to before any of us were born. There’s no such thing as a stroll in the park with NFL football. To reach 20 is to have a fun day, but it won’t be that fun for Driver this week. Take a look at or around 12 points.

Don’t Count out!

Dwayne Bowe: Bowe is proving his first round worthiness. Big receivers have a way of getting things done especially when they are the only big play threat. Look for another game that approaches the 20 point mark.

Santonio Holmes: Taking full advantage of his #1 receiving role thus far. Things will only get better at home and Holmes’ predicted 14 should look more like 18 or more this week.

Braylon Edwards: Predicted to score 13 this week in New England. The Browns will do plenty of passing and I truly expect a meaningless late game touchdown out of Edwards. He’ll finish with at least 16-18 this week.

Brandon Marshall: Marshall is a main contributor in the Fantasy Game of the Week. Look for 2 scores and a total at or around 20 fantasy points this week.

Joey Galloway:  Last week Galloway was blanked and this week he’s playing in a game where the Bucs have to score points. His predicted 10 points is not enough so look for at least a touchdown and 90 yards. At least 15 this week for Galloway.

Reggie Wayne is not a top level at the moment. He will see a lot more bracket and double coverage. Teams will take him out of the game with no Harrison.
