There have been quite a few surprises this season at this position and this week will offer plenty more. But, one thing is for sure; Tom Brady will not be the first selection in any and all cash competitions this week. It’s an easy and safe play to draft top “name” QB’s, however, do you have the insight to go against the norm and draft a QB that you know will play a great game?
Remember, this is not a start’em sit’em list but more of a guide when determining whom to draft in weekly cash competitions.
Here’s a look at this weeks top twelve Quarterbacks.
Ben Roethlisberger: Even though this is one the biggest rivalries in football Roethlisberger is playing at such a high level that it doesn’t matter. At home and against one of the leagues weakest pass defenses look for Ben to have a big day. Projected Points: 27
Drew Brees: Brees is back! I know I was a little rough on Brees in the early part of the season, but it was justified. He’s back and this week at home against the Rams, Brees will have another impressive performance. Projected Points: 26
Brett Favre: The fact is, Green Bay doesn’t have a running game and Favre has carried this team on his shoulders. The Vikes stop the run but rank 31st in pass defense. Lick your chops this week Favre. Projected Points: 22
Kurt Warner: From turf to grass go the Lions overachieving fantasy defense. The fact is, the Lions yield 250 yards per game and have given up a total of 14 touchdown passes. Warner will pick them apart this week. Projected Points: 20
'Jon Kitna: After two consecutive games without a touchdown, Kitna finally found pay dirt by passing for two touchdowns and racking up a total of 22 fantasy points. Detroit’s offense should have fun in Arizona this weekend. '
'Projected Points: 20'
Matt Hasselbeck:
'
' The Niners are just not playing well enough to stop Seattle. Hasselbeck has weapons and with a change in the running game, he’s forced to throw more. With four games in the twenties and three in the mid-high teens Hasselbeck may surpass those numbers in the first half. Projected Points: 19'
Tony Romo: In the Cowboys/Giants Week 1 “shootout” Romo racked up 345 yards on only fifteen completions and 4 touchdowns while compiling 42 fantasy points. However, the Giants defense weren’t near as good then as they are these days. Projected Points: 19
Derek Anderson: In their first meeting this season the Steelers won 34-7 in a blowout. The only difference this week, Anderson is the starter and has improved each week. Projected Points: 18
Eli Manning: Having two weeks to prepare for Dallas and playing at home, Manning and the Giants should win this game. Having posted 34 fantasy points in their first meetin, Manning will find the open man. Projected Points: 18
Peyton Manning: Even though Minnesota made it look easy it won’t be easy for Indianapolis on the road in San Diego this week. Road favorites going from turf to grass rarely live up to their expectations. Manning drops a bit this week. Projected Points: 17
J.P. Losman: Losman earns another start after throwing for 295 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. The Dolphins rank 6th in pass defense but don’t let that stat fool you they’ve given up 15 passing touchdowns and quarterbacks have a 102 passer rating against them. Projected Points: 15
Carson Palmer: With the exception of one stellar performance (49 points) Palmer has pretty mediocre this season. After last weeks blowout in Pittsburgh, the Ravens defense is back home and without Chad Johnson, Palmer will have a long day. Projected Points: 15
